An update for Technitium MAC Address Changer v6.0.2 is now available via
built-in Automatic Update feature and direct download. The software will check for update
automatically as per a fixed schedule. If you want the update before the
automatic update triggers, just start the software, click on Help > Check For Software Updates menu to get it done instantly.
The update can also be downloaded directly and installed from here (please make sure the software is not running before executing this update).
The update was released to fix a couple of bugs which includes an error occurring in Automatic Update on some computers. The update also adds feature to import network configuration preset files (.cpf) created with older versions.
Note: Currently, the version 6.0.0 setup is available on the website. The
update for version 6.0.2, is available only through the automatic update
channel or by direct update download from here. A new setup, which would include the update, will be available
in coming days on the website.
When will the new setup be available? Im on a win7 x64 client.
ReplyDeleteI will try to release new setup by this weekend.
DeleteHi mister... Thanks for your great software. Here I want to as question.
DeleteI use win 8 64bit and use wifi connection. I usually change the mac adress by using ur soft but I always got error when turning back (restore to original) so makes me to shut down ur soft directly (force).
I have googling but still dont find the answer, maybe you have enough time to explain it.
Thanks in advanced
thanks for the compliments. just email me a screenshot of the error that you are getting.
DeleteQuestion:
ReplyDeleteWill changing the Mac address allow anonyomous bit torrent downloads and uploads?
Will it work with other programs like Vuze?
programs installed perfect on my win7 64x
Thanks
TMAC will change MAC address of your network adapter due to which you can get a new IP address lease from your ISP. It doesnt provide anonymity. For anonymity, I would suggest you to use TOR or VPN services.
DeleteHello Iam just wondering if my network can get hurt by doing this? Does tmac harm your network? Beacuse i getting really low ping now when i have used it answer me please :P
DeleteNothing will happen to your network or your hardware.
DeleteThank you
ReplyDeleteso when would one want to change the Mac address.
Just read this post: http://blog.technitium.com/2011/06/why-you-need-to-change-mac-address.html
DeleteHi great developer of tmac i have a question tmac can change mac address of dial up connections? example gprs modem?.
ReplyDeleteDial-up connections are point-to-point type network connection. Such connections don't require MAC address for network identification and so you cant change it as it doesn't exist.
DeleteThank you so much for the reply
DeleteAH mr Shreyas Zare i forgot to say you can add on your program for wifi adapters the first octet sart with 12 and it works too with wifi
Delete02 and 12 works with wifi adapters.
Anyway i was telling you about changing mac address on dial up connections for be unbanned in videogames that ban for mac address.
Sometimes admins bans the mac for nothing.
With a program called pb down force change mac address of dial up too but temporary because that pbdownforce works only temporary after the restart all it's at default settings and it's a very unstable program can cause bsod's.
Anyway when i have again a usb modem using dial up connection to 3g 4g networks i test if i select RAS async and i think with 12 or 02 as first octet im sure the mac address change. even if pbdownforce workes anyway with 00
Sorry for my english im italian.
Its useful to set first octet "02" only when you are not able to change MAC address of wifi otherwise. If you can change MAC address then it will work with any number as first octet including "02" or "12".
DeleteSecondly, as I had mentioned, there is no MAC address for dial-up connections. Dial-up connections use PPP protocol and it doesn't need MAC address.
The tool you mentioned may show it changed MAC address of some dial-up adapter, but you can verify with ipconfig /all command that there is no physical address for dial-up adapters.
thanks for your replay mr shreyas zare i remember in the past all software of mac cannot recognize ppp and when i was writing on cmd ipconfig/all shows the mac of the nic adapter PPP connection.
DeleteBut only with this pbdownforce after i start spoofing hardware and mac i returned to cmd writing ipconfig/all and even on ppp adapter i see a new mac address i don't know how this pbdownforce works but it works very well only it's very unstable doesn't work on 64 bit systems and after restart all returning at default settings(probably this software was make to not doing permanent changes)
I guess the software you are telling is changing the physical address for the dial-up adapter in memory making it non persistent. Their is however no point in doing so other than making locally running software believe that some dial-up adapter physical address is something you want it to read.
DeleteWhen you connect with a dial-up adapter, the connection is point-to-point between you and the ISP. The data frame that your computer sends is received by the ISP from which the IP packet is read and routed on the internet separately. Any physical identifiers on the lower data link protocol is never passed any further.
While in case of Ethernet networks, the network is broadcast type and multiple nodes connected to the network need a physical address (MAC address) for identifying the intended recipient of the data frame being sent. In this type of networks, it makes sense to change MAC address such that other nodes read a spoofed MAC address in the incoming data frame. Even in Ethernet networks, the MAC address is never known to nodes on the other end of routers as routers forward only IP packets and the data frames always remain in the local network.
Hope this makes it clear. There is no point in having some physical identifiers for point-to-point network changed other than fooling any locally running applications.
i am really hoping someone can help me out here...
DeleteThis is the first time i used this software...and i am a bit concerned. Okay well I have vmware player and virtual box both installed on my windows box. I looked at all my interfaces (there are many because of virtual apps) and decided to change the one marked "local area connection" since i am wired in to my router (not on wifi). I was able to change my mac with no problem but anytime I try and "restore my original mac address" my internet connection no longer works?
Oh and it used to restore my original mac address with no issue now it gives me an error, but for some reason changes it back just gives me an error. Yet i lose my internet connection.
Does anyone here know why this is?
I am really hoping someone can advise here..?
Am i am going to have to leave my mac changed and if i do is this going to affect any other programs? I can't see why it would but you never know...
please advise...
Changing the MAC address wont affect any other programs. Loss of connectivity might be due to some config issues. I cant tell exact issue with limited info. If you could send screenshot of the software window (with any error message that you get) would be helpful.
DeleteHi !
ReplyDeleteI have used TMAC before and it worked great !, now I have installed it on a computer with WIN 7 64, When I start the TMAC I get the error :
"Source: TMACv6
Error:(457) This key is already associated with an element of this collection."
I haven´t started to investigate where the problem is, but i saw that you replied freq on this site so maybe you know directly what this error is ?
If you haven't installed the update mentioned in this blog post then just try again after installing it.
DeleteRealising this is a very old thread... i've used TMAC since v3.0 (for over 5 years now).
DeleteI noticed this post and for anyone who encounters error 457, i seem to have discovered the problem & resolution (fingers crossed):
Scenario: Typically, with notebooks, netbooks, and Windows-based tablets (but not exclusively), the device has two adapters: a Wi-Fi adapter, and the traditional ethernet port. From time to time, if you're like me - you switch between using the Wi-Fi and ethernet.
Problem: when switching back from Wi-Fi use to using ethernet, TMAC will return the dreaded Error 457.
SOLUTION: Now, i obviously cannot atest to the systems spec's, h/w combinations of everyone out there using TMAC, but i have run into the Error 457 on many occasions. I've found on every occasion that the Wi-Fi was still enabled under adapters in the Network and Sharing Center. In order to avoid Error 457, you MUST disable Wi-Fi when using TMAc to spoof another MAC address, and vice-versa (i.e. disable Ethernet when using Wi-Fi with TMAC).
For the non-tech savvy, to achieve this, follow these steps:
(1) Open 'Network and Sharing Center' (by right-clicking on the active adapter icon in the system tray, bottom-right hand corner of desktop)
(2) To the top left of the 'Network and Sharing Center' window, click on 'Change Adapter Settings'
(3) Depending on which adapter you won't be using, you will need to temporarily disable that adapter. So, simply right-click on the adapter's icon and then click 'Disable'
Summary: at this point, the Error 457 (i.e. obviously a resource conflict) is gone, and TMAC will, once again, be able to change the active adapter's MAC without crashing. :D
Hope this post was of help. If you've got any Q's, be sure and post a reply to my post.
Im just using my neighbor's wifi , and i changed my mac cause i was a lil bit paranoic .. and this was the only software that works ,so thanks . P.S why is free ?
ReplyDeleteI hope your neighbor knows that you are using their internet. I am glad that the software is useful to you.
DeleteIts free because it was free when first released and I don't want to charge people for just changing few registry values which they can otherwise do manually without the help of this software.
Hi Shreyas Zare. I've installed your software and it works perfectly, but there's one thing I don't understand. Why my vuze/azureus p2p client doesn't download anything after changing my mac with T-mac? if I restore my mac then it works again.
ReplyDeleteCan you describe your network setup as I cannot guess the reason based on info that you provided? Also, did you try downloading with another torrent client?
DeleteAfter reading you I've tried bitcomet, signed in and didn't work either. Installed e-mule with same results. I don't know how to describe my network setup... I'll do my best: I'm running win8 CP 64 bit, connect to internet by wifi, through an Orange livebox 2 router (sagem). Ok, I've just seen something "weird", my pc doesn't show as connected on my router! but sure it is!! rebooted both my pc and router and same thing... Need to do something? need more info?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the replies!!!
It's kind of weird... now it does appear in my router as connected but I did not change anything but it still doesn't work though.
ReplyDeleteIs it that you lose internet connectivity totally when you change MAC address or is it just with torrent clients not working?
DeleteIf the internet connection is working properly, then you might want to check your router config. Make sure that you have UPnP turned on. If any port forwarding config is made with static IP address, you should note that changing MAC address with change your IP address allocated by DHCP server in the router.
Thanks again!!
ReplyDeleteI don't get it but it works! I checked on UpnP IGD and found out
that it opened 3 ports: xxxxx tcp yyyyy both tdp and udp. I have vuze set up with xxxxx tcp and yyyyy udp (not yyyyy udp). After unchecking it stoppped working again. I opened both tcp and udp on the yyyyy port and voila! it works!!
The question is why both tcp and udp must be opened on yyyyy for Vuze to work with the new mac but it only needs udp on that port with the original mac? Not a big deal now that we found out and it works but just to know...
P.S.: I had opened the ports xxxxx tcp and yyyyy udp for the new mac, that was well done already.
Its good that the config worked out correctly. Torrent clients use both TCP and UDP protocols. Now I cannot for sure say why it was working with the original MAC address and not with the changed one. But anyways, we now know what config is necessary to make it work!
DeleteI have no static ip, it's dynamic. But I don't think that's the issue. And the connection works propperly it's just with the p2p clients. Emule doesn't work even with UPnP checked and both aaaa tcp/udp and bbbb tcp/udp ports opened. I don't use it no more, so I don't need to fix it but if it gives you info we can try, otherwise thanks a lot!!!
ReplyDeleteWell, it could be any config issue, in router or on local machine firewall. No need to check it as things are working now!
Deleteplease ,can i have a new link to download
ReplyDeletehere Tunis - Tunisia .
thanks
the link to download is working without any issue. Check it out again here
DeleteHi there Shreyas! I have a problem with TMAC .. For like 2 months or more the TMAc was working perfectly, but today it stopped working, I clicked Random Mac Adressa as Usually, then I changed it, and I lost my internet connection after changing it and the connecter never went back up. I restored the Mac, it worked, thne I tried again to change it, It failed again, I was loosing the internet connection. Any ideea of what should I do ??
ReplyDeleteIt may be that your ISP implemented MAC filtering. This is so that only registered MAC addresses can have access to internet.
Deleteif i change same as my roomate ip address, is it possible ?
DeleteSetting same IP address will give you IP conflict error and you wont be able to use network.
DeleteHI this is very unusual comment , but what i want to ask you is that i use internet via college wifi which limit the speed upto 60kbps. But somebody used your software to increase the speed to 2mbps. he is not telling how. I just want to know that how it is possible to do that. He is dumb with computers too. so he could not do ny programming or tweaks too. Please help me please i am grateful to you. thankyou
ReplyDeletemy email id is pawan.deep987@gmail.com reply me please

ReplyDeleteIt's throws Unable to restore original MAC-address!
ReplyDeleteTake a screenshot of the error and email me for a solution.
Deletei will change the mac address but what i enter in username and password
ReplyDeletethere is nothing I can tell you as authentication depends on your ISP configuration.
Deleteerror 457 this key is already associated with an element of this collection. Having win 8.1. It's not working. Having last version of this software.
ReplyDeleteThanks. Can you email me steps that generates this error? Also I hope you are using the latest version available.
DeleteIs it possible to change your mac adress"s starting octet into 74? Other than 02, 00 and 12?

DeleteHi, I can't seem to change the mac address inside the virtualbox virtual machine. Everytime I do so the machine the network connection is lost. What could be the problem?
ReplyDeleteI can change the MAC address using virtualbox just fine (Settings => Network => MAC address), but I have to log out to do that.
Hello , i have had success with two of my computers using your software, but i cant seem to get it to work on my other one. The computer is a dell laptop running windows 7 home premium. It use to have one of those Intel wireless cards where the mac couldn't be changed so i switched it out with a broadcom one i had laying around. With the old Intel card it would give me some error msg about setting the first octave to "02" even when i had it set at 02 allrerady. Either way it wouldn't change the mac. With the new card installed it says the mac was changed successfully, but when i go to connect to a wireless network there is some connection issue where my computer sends out information to the wireless network, but it wont receive anything back. I dont understand what the problem is, but i have been trying to figure it ot for two weeks on my own and haven't gotten anywhere. like i said i have made it work perfectly with my two other laptops one running windows 7 and the other running windows 10 connecting to the same network i am unable to connect to with my other computer.
ReplyDeleteI am assuming that you are able to connect to the access point with the broadcom network adapter. Are you able to ping to the gateway or any other computer on the network? I suggest you to use Wireshark to check the traffic that is going through the network adapter to try to figure out the issue.
DeleteHello,
ReplyDeleteI wanted a favour, i wanted to know that i am serial banned from MTA:SA will your spoofer work on game serial bans? if yes so please give me the correct link of download.
Regards,
Syed Ali Imran Shirazi.
You can only know after trying it. Just go to https://technitium.com/tmac to get download link.
Deletei can change my mac address .. show me this msg 'failed to change MAC address'
ReplyDeleteJust send a screenshot of the TMAC window to support@technitium.com.
DeleteIs anyone else having this problem or is it a issue on my end? I’ll check back later on and see if the problem still exists.
