I am happy to announce the release of Technitium DNS Server v14, a cross-platform, free, open source software that can be used by anyone, be it a novice or an expert user. It features an easy to use web based GUI and works with default config that allows the server to run out-of-the-box.

This major release adds support for Clustering which allows you to manage two or more DNS Server instances from a single DNS admin web console by logging into any one of the nodes. This feature makes managing multiple DNS servers much easy by syncing all common settings to all nodes in the Cluster automatically. It provides a Cluster node selector in relevent sections on the DNS admin panel to see details specific to the selected node. Another blog post will be published soon to explain clustering configuration in detail.

The Dashboard now provides a "Cluster" view which shows aggregate data from all the nodes in the Cluster. The Clustering feature covers syncing data for Allowed, Blocked, Apps, Settings, and Administration sections. It provides a "Cluster Catalog" zone in the Zones section for adding zones that must be hosted on all of the nodes in the Cluster. The Cache and Logging parts are independent for each node. While Settings section provides options that are common for all nodes under "Cluster" view and allows configuring node specific options by selecting the required node. This update does not yet support clustering for DHCP scopes and this is planned to be added in the next major release.

This release also adds support for TOTP based Two-factor Authentication (2FA). This aims to improve security for DNS Server users. This release also now runs over .NET 9 Runtime so if you have manually installed the DNS server then make sure to manually install .NET 9 Runtime before upgrading.
